Christjohannes Schreiber snatches pole away from Petr Fulín

European Touring Car Cup points leader Christjohannes Scrheiber took his first pole position of the year at the Nürburgring, beating Krenek Motorsport’s Petr Fulín by under a tenth of a second over a single lap over the 25.378km circuit.

Schreiber’s best lap came at the end of the 40-minute session in the Rikli Motorsport Honda Civic TCR, with the Swiss driver able to outpace the SEAT driver despite carrying 50kg of success ballast.

“I didn’t expect it, it was a real team effort,” said Schreiber to TouringCarTimes. “They tried to find some solutions so I could put more trust in the car, and they did it, and it was exactly what I needed.”

Fulín had to settle for second, while LEIN Racing’s Fábio Mota was third fastest in the SEAT León TCR.

Igor Stefanovski was next in his SEAT, with the two Zengo SEATs of Norbert Nagy and Zsolt Szabo fifth and sixth.

Andreas Pfister and Mladen Lalusic completed the top eight of the classification.

Anett Gyorgy was ninth fastest in her Zengo SEAT, but at 54 seconds off the pace, she was outside of the 107% limit and has had to apply for dispensation to start.

The second Honda Civic of Peter Rikli didn’t take part due to a technical issue, while Kraf Racing’s Plamen Kralev also missed the session as his car hadn’t yet been repaired after a roll in Free Practice 2 earlier in the morning.
