Stefano Comini returns to TCR Benelux with the aim of taking the title

Stefano Comini will return to the TCR Benelux series with TCR International Series team-mate Frédéric Vervisch as his co-driver next weekend at Zolder, with the aim to complete the season in the Comtoyou Audi RS 3 and win the series’ title.

Comini, with then co-driver Sheldon van der Linde, dominated the first race meeting at Spa-Francorchamps last month, but missed last weekend’s round at Zandvoort, with Delahaye Racing’s Guillaume Mondron assuming the lead of the championship.

As a result, Comini sits fourth in the championship standings, 54 points behind current leader Mondron (with 125 available per weekend), though Mondron himself is set to miss the second of the two race meetings at Zolder next month.

“We absolutely want to remain active in this championship,” said team boss Jean-Michel Baert. “During our participation at Francorchamps, we thought already about the possibility of aiming for the crown at end of the year. From now on, in addition to our campaign TCR International Series, so we will involve ourselves fully in TCR Benelux.”
