Benjamin Lessennes revels after perfect weekend at Zolder

Boutsen Ginion Racing’s Benjamin Lessennes and co-driver Tom Coronel put on a dominant display throughout the Zolder weekend’s five races, with the duo taking a maximum 125 points of 125, with Lessennes catapulting into the lead of the championship.

Coronel fell behind the Peugeot of Kevin Abbring in the first race for two laps, but after that the #2 Honda Civic TCR led all 46 laps out of 48 during Sunday’s four sprint races, with Lessennes leading from light-to-flag in his two sprints.

“I have nothing to say, it was just perfect,” said Lessennes to TouringCarTimes.

“The next race is also here, so that’s good for our championship. I think we have a little bit of work to though to keep the life of the tyres to the end of the race.”

“I made two slides early on at the first corner, as my rear tyres were maybe a little bit too cold at the beginning of the race, but after that it was fine.”

Lessennes now leads the championship by 21 points over Delahaye Racing’s Guillaume Mondron, with Tom Coronel third, a further 19 points behind, with the next round of the championship again at Zolder on July 16th.
