Maxime Potty says victory wasn’t possible today against Honda

Qualifying long race pole-sitter Maxime Potty says the Volkswagen Golf couldn’t beat the Honda Civic TCR in the races at Zolder, but is happy after a strong weekend so far after a difficult first two races.

The 17-year-old Belgian Team WRT driver matched his best result from Race 4 at Spa, with three second-place finishes during the weekend at Zolder, with co-driver Mathieu Detry taking over the #52 car for the last two races.

“I don’t think it was possible to win today,” said Potty to TouringCarTimes. “The Honda is stronger at the moment, especially at the end of the race

“(But) it’s very important to score here, as at Spa we were very unfortunate. I was hit by the Peugeot in the first sprint, but was able to get back to second from 12th. In Zandvoort, it was just a bad weekend, so it was good to have a good weekend so far, with second yesterday and two more seconds today, and hopefully Mathieu can do the same (this afternoon).”
