Giacomo Altoè back with Guillaume Mondron at Mettet

TCR Benelux championship challenger Guillaume Mondron will be reunited with TCR International Series regular Giacomo Altoè for the next round of the TCR Benelux series at Mettet on September 24th.

Mondron, who is three points behind Boutsen Ginion Honda driver Benjamin Lessennes in the drivers’ championship, will be racing the Delahaye Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR for the third time this year, after having raced a SEAT León TCR with his brother Edouard at Spa and the first Zolder event.

“It’s excellent news,” said Mondron. “In Zandvoort we won the qualifying long race together, and then Giacomo was brilliant in winning the Sprint 2 in front of Benjamin Lessennes and Mathieu Detry.

“I think I can say that we will be one of the duos to beat and I look forward to battling with Benjamin and Stéphane (Lémeret). I also want to thank Lorenzo (Donniacuo), because it was thanks to his tour de force during the last race on the Circuit Zolder that the difference with Benjamin was reduced to three points.”

Altoè, who is in action this weekend with V-Action Racing in their Alfa Romeo Giulietta in TCR Italy, and has switched to Honda in the TCR International Series, will be back with a Volkswagen when he heads to the Belgian Mettet circuit later this month.

“Thanks to my races in TCR International and TCR Benelux, I am very familiar with the VW Golf GTI TCR,” he said. “And since I was very pleased with my collaboration with Delahaye Racing and Guillaume, I am delighted that that I’ll be back with them. After the Zandvoort races, I was well placed in the championship, but I saw my chances melt like snow in the sun following a zero score at the Blancpain weekend at Zolder.

“I’ll give the best of myself to bring a maximum of points to Guillaume so that he can, if possible, get the crown at the end of the season. ”
