Petr Fulín aims to race with his son at ETCC finale next month

Petr Fulín heads to Zolder this weekend with a 13-point lead over rival Christjohannes Schreiber in his Krenek Motorsport SEAT León, and the two-time ETCC champion expects a tough battle with his Swiss rival’s Honda, but hopes to count on the support of his son, Petr Fulín Jr, at the season finale at his home track, Most, next month.

The Czech driver retook the lead of the championship after a disastrous event in Portugal for his Rikli Motorsport rival, and after two positive weekends at the Nordschleife and at the Vila Real street circuit, the 40-year-old is back in the lead of the standings with two rounds to go.

“We had two very good weekends at the Nordschleife and in Vila Real, so next is Zolder, and then a special experience, my home track in Most, the final weekend where I’ll try to organise to get two Petr Fulíns in the race, a place for my son,” he told TouringCarTimes.

“It was a very important weekend in Portugal as I know the Honda could be really fast,” he added.

“I think that the Honda is very strong, even after the BoP…it’s not engine power so much, but their balance; they’re very fast from slow corners – they exit the corners really well and make the most of their traction on the track, which is why they have a great advantage, so the promoter needs to find a solution to this to improve the sport.”
