First entries confirmed for the 2019 TCR Malaysia championship

The first entries have been confirmed for the new-for-2019 TCR Malaysia Touring Car Championship, which kicks off on 20th January at the Sepang International Circuit.

The three-event championship’s rounds all take place at the former Formula 1 circuit, and the first team to confirm its entry is Prince Racing.

The team won the inaugural TCR Asia Series in 2015, and returns to TCR competition with drivers Michael Choi and Kenneth Lau, now switching from the Honda Civic Type R FK2 TCR (pictured), to the latest FK8 specification car for 2019.

Also announcing an entry is recently confirmed TCR China champions Teamwork Motorsport, which will field the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR which won the title in the championship, with their driver yet to be announced. The Golf was raced by Sunny Wong and Alex Hui during the 2018 TCR China championship season.

The first two rounds take place back-to-back, with Round 2 on January 26th, before a month’s break ahead of the season finale on February 24th.
