Engström is ready for the race

Tomas Engström was the second driver from the Swedish Touring Car Championship to enter the ETC Cup at Estoril. The event takes place this coming weekend in Portugal, Engström’s car is already there while Engström flies to the track tomorrow.

“I am really looking forward to the races in Portugal. The car is in perfect condition and the team is well prepared for the job,” Engström said.

Engström has been on the Portuguese track before, in 2003 during a round of the European Touring Car Championship which has turned in to the World Touring Car Championship.

“I drove a Honda Civic then and finished in ninth place. Both my experience from that race and the data for the car we have makes our starting point for this race much better. Also, the Accord is one second per lap quicker.”

Engström is definitely one of the drivers with a good shot for a top position. Estoril requires a lot of power on the straights which the Accord has a lot of.

“We are going for it. The goal is a top five position for sure, even if I have higher hopes than that,” Engström said with a smile.
