Bremer goes Mercedes with KP Racing

Ronnie Bremer, Copenhagen, will be having his first full season in the Danish Touringcar Championship this year. The former Champ Car driver has struck a deal with new outfit KP Racing, whose new Mercedes C200 he will pedal in this year’s eight DTC rounds.

Ronnie Bremer has spent most of the winter season trying to return to racing in North America, where there has been many uncertainties over the situation in single seater racing, until the Champ Car World Series and the Indy Racing League merged recently.

“In the end it was sense that prevailed,” Ronnie Bremer says about his deal with KP Racing.

“Of course I have dreamt to return to Champ Car and I had got the funding to do a full season with a proper team. But the rumours concerning the merger between Champ Cars with the IRL series and the bad financial state of the series meant that it was no good idea to continue down that alley. When I got a parallel contact from KP Racing with a firm offer, any doubt was thrown away.”

Ronnie Bremer has yet to test drive his new racing car, as work is still in progress in the workshop. However, at the auto show in Copenhagen this weekend it is possible to get an idea of the visual looks of the car, as a mock up is exhibited.

“I am really looking forward to drive the gorgeous Mercedes car,” he says. “Mercedes has always been a dream car in my universe, the brand equals quality and prestige in my world, so to become the first DTC driver to defend Mercedes’ proud motorsport heritage is a dream come true.”

The last time Ronnie Bremer drove in the Danish Touringcar Championship was in 2006, when he did selected races in a Peugeot 307 for Peugeot Sport Denmark. Until then he had had individual races as stand in for Jan Magnussen, England, at Peugeot Statoil Motorsport.
