Record lap to put Owen top

Steve Owen set a lap record to put himself in pole position for the latest round of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Championship at Wakefield Park today.
Owen in his Tint-A-Car Commadore VZ was one of 8 Holdens to fill the top ten in this the second round of the championship with a time of 58.4392 seconds.

Ford Falcons filled the next three places with Grant Deyer in his Summit Fleet Leasing car with 58.4300, Dean Canto 58.8352 in the Howard Racing Falcon and in the Tekno Motorsport car, Jonathan Webb with 58.9181.

Jack Perkins lead the rest of the top ten Commodore VZ’s, putting his Mack Trucks sponsored car in fifth with a time of 59.0022. Sixth was Mark McNally in the West Coast Racing machine at 59.1883. Michael Trimble 59.1951, Dave Reynolds 59.1992, Tim Slade 59.2523 and Dale Wood rounding out the top ten with a time of 59.3696.
