Bankruptcy has no effect on Sturup
The management of Sturup Raceway confirms that their proposed races of the Swedish Touring Car Championship and the Danish Touring Car Championship 2009 will go ahead, despite the bankruptcy of the Danish track owners: Centerplan A/S. The track is under the ownership of a sister company: Centerplan Nordic AB.
Elton Goonan of Sturup Raceway explains: “The bankruptcy of the Danish Centerplan A/S DK Company will have no effect on Sturup Raceway. We already have a contract on two STCC races, at the moment we are discussing the final details of the calendar.”
“Basically we are discussing which dates will work the best for the STCC organisation, but we are ready to take on the races. I expect that we can come with a final announcement regarding the STCC calendar at Sturup Raceway within two weeks.”
“Regarding the DTC, it has always worked well for us. In the last couple of years, we have had record numbers of attendance. We are at the moment waiting for Peter Elgaard, to finalize the contract. He is planning the calendar for 2009, and we are looking forward to Wellcome the Danish audience.”
“Apart from the big national championships, we are also discussing plans for the smaller races. We have four clubs, who wants to return to Sturup Raceway. It has always been the long term plan for Sturup Raceway to invest in massive improvements, to make sure that the national championships and other races will return to Sturup Raceway.”
“We are aware, that news regarding Carsten Levau always sparks up rumours, especially in the Danish press. But we can assure everyone, that we will carry on with our plans for the 2009 race calendar.”
