No new Chevrolet to Denmark
The newly crowned Danish Touringcar Championship team champions, Chevrolet Motorsport Denmark, has confirmed that they will not take over the recently released 2008 FIA World Touring Car Championship Chevrolet Lacetti factorycars. The Danish DTC team had a firm option to buy the cars, to replace the two 2007 Chevrolet Lacetti ex-factorycars raced this season.
Ray Mallock Racing Ltd. released four 2008 factorycars for sale after the WTCC season ended, and the first two cars seems to have been sold to Tempus Sport in the British Touringcar Championship. Chevrolet Motorsport Denmark will instead update the current 2007 Chevrolet Lacetti to 2008 specification.
Due to the fact that the Chevrolet factory team Ray Mallock Racing Ltd., will race the brand new Chevrolet Cruze in next years WTCC, it will not be possible to update Chevrolet Motorsport Denmark´s current Chevrolet Lacetti cars beyond 2008 specification.
The current 2007 ex-factory cars were taken over from Ray Mallock Racing Ltd., after last years WTCC seasonfinale in Macau. The 2008 update will be done by Perfection Racing, that is managing Chevrolet Motorsport Denmark, at their facility in Denmark with parts supplied by Ray Mallock Ltd.
Chevrolet Motorsport Denmark won the Danish Touringcar Championship team championship, and drivers Henrik Lundgaard and Michael Outzen ended up as second and third in the overall 2008 DTC championship.
Chevrolet Motorsport Denmark has yet to launch their 2009 lineup, speculation is linking the newly crowned ETCC champion Michel Nykjær to a seat, after dominating this years event in a Perfection Racing Chevrolet Lacetti. The other seat seems to be decided the two current drivers, Henrik Lundgaard and Michael Outzen.
