Elgaard returns with privateer SEAT

Casper Elgaard, three time Danish Touring Car Championship series winner, returns to the DTC with his own team. In 2008 he raced the Team Essex Invest Porsche RS Spyder in the Le Mans Series and the 24 hour race of Le Mans, however he did also race one DTC round for Hartman Honda Racing at Padborg Park.

Now Elgaard is back with his own DTC team, featuring two 2007 Seat Leon race cars, formerly raced by the now defunct Sturup Raceway team. Jens Møller is one of the drivers rumoured for the second car in the team.

“After one year away, I have chosen to return to the DTC. I have been working on several opportunities, among other things racing in one of the existing teams, but now the conclusion has been, that I have established my own team,“ Elgaard explains.

“We do have a working title on the team, named Team FDM Motorsport, but we are in dialogue with several companies, concerning possible sponsorships deals, and one of the things discussed is the name of the team, so it might end up with a completely different name.”

“Racing an altogether different car and different brand, will be an exciting challenge. In the years where I won the DTC series, I raced a rearwheel drive BMW, and it will be exciting to try a frontwheel driven car. Last time I drove a full season, some of my competitors thought, that I had an advantage by racing a rearwheel driven car, so now it will be exciting to see if they are right or not. But I don’t think so…”

“I am really looking forward to return, and yet again compete a full season. Many of the top drivers I fought last time round, all seems to return this year, so it will be exciting to take up the fight against the old rivals like Jan Magnussen and Henrik Lundgaard. I am pretty certain, that we can look forward to a very exciting DTC season.”

Team FDM Motorsport is planning to race two cars in this years DTC series, and negotiations are rumored to be ongoing with the second driver Former Hartman Honda Racing driver, Jens Møller.

“We are pretty far into the negotiations with several subjects, and we expect to enter a deal within the next few weeks.”
