Martin Marrill announces SEAT debut
Former rally- and Special Saloon Car driver, Martin Marrill, debuts in the Danish Touring Car Championship, with a Seat Leon. After testing several DTC cars, Marrill chose to partner up with Perfection Racing, renting the space with the vice champions.
Marrill has been testing both the Team Tyrstrup Kro Seat Toledo and later also the KP Racing Mercedes 200 DTC racer, at a shootout with Andreas Ziggel. But after buying his Leon, Perfection Racing seemed like the place to be.
“I chose to cooperate with Perfection Racing, which is also known as the home of the 2008 DTC vice champions, Chevrolet Motorsport Denmark. I need the right people around me. I have had a long way before I ended up in the DTC. It has been touch and go so many times for me.”
The first test of the car will be at the DMV Tourenwagen Series at Hockenheim the 17. / 18. Of April. The car will be in a full white livery, as the full paintjob will be revealed at the DTC presentation the 2. / 3. Of May at Jyllandsringen.
“Mainly the race will be a test, due to the fact that I haven’t been driving for a while, and also because I need to learn about the car. We will consult with a German Seat team, dissemble the car and learn everything about setups and technical issues.”
Bu there is no hiding that the young Dane is looking forward to the upcoming DTC season.
“I am really looking forward to the upcoming season! It has been a struggle for everybody, to secure the funds needed for a full DTC season. I have no firm success strategy.
I see no need to put myself under pressure. I will show everybody that I am racing, take the duels with the good drivers. Later we will have to see, if we have to tighten the grip.”
The first DTC race will be on the 9th / 10th of May.
