Nykjær continues on top in warm up
Who is afraid of Michel Nykjær´s the blue Chevrolet? The Danish Touring Car Championship round one seems so far to be in the grasp of the Lacetti driver, dominating almost all sessions leading up to Heat 1 later today. This mornings warm up session also featured the newly signed Chevrolet driver, tailing close behind is James Thompson and Jan Magnussen.
“I hope to win race one, my plan is to have Lundgaard covering my six while I try to build up a distance to the field,” Michel explains. Lundgaard applauds this strategy: “I am satisfied by starting third, as second spot is on the dirty outside of the grid. We are a team, and we look after one another.”
The joker in the field seems to be Jason Watt, the paralegic SEAT driver is looking strong this year. The speed of the Chevrolets is impressing, however Magnussen is seems to get the upper hand of the setup challenges facing him at the start of the weekend.
The weather seems to be windy, but thankfully dry. And no chance of rain showers is projected, but the weather at FDM Jyllandsringen is as always unstable. The lower temperature is still the reason behind the lap times, being of from yesterday by half a second.
The fastest privateer is still Per Poulsen, showing his speed in the Hartmann Honda. The fastest Invitation-Only driver was John Hansen, back at last after he was forced to sit out yesterday’s sessions while changing his gearbox.
Race one will start at 12.30, with Michel Nykjær on pole.
