Quotes from top 3 qualifiers

Henrik Lundgaard made it to pole, James Thompson broke a rollbar and Nykjær is looking forward to the start. TouringCarTimes.com caught up with the fastest three of the qualification, and here are the quotes.

Henrik Lundgaard, pole position:
“That was great, but it was very close. Actually the qualification was very stressful. I was let out in front of cars which were on their flying lap. So I had to avoid them, forcing me to go on the dirty side of the track. So I had to clean my tires, which basically was it for me on my first attempt.”

“It was frustrating, but we had to make another attempt for pole. That wasn’t in our original plan, but we managed pole anyway. I am very satisfied; it is the first step into the points. But as I always say, you don’t get points in qualification.”

“Last year Thompson overtook me at the start in turn 2, and I can promise you that will not happen again. We have learned from that one!”

James Thompson, second place:
”Well, obviously I am disappointed. I have been fastest all day, and now I have to be behind Henrik. Not to take anything away from Henrik, but we broke a rollbar in my first attempt, and we didn’t have enough time to change it. So I had to drive the remainder of qualifying with a broken rollbar, which of course did affect the handling.”

“I think that we were a little bit faster today, but with the broken rollbar we couldn’t make it to the top. But the fact that we as a small team are fighting the works cars, is really great. So I am very positive!”

Michel Nykjær, third place:
”Well, I am having 37,5 kilos in the car. So I am satisfied, and I am really looking forward to the race. I am leading the Danish championship, and I have the best grid position for the start tomorrow. On Padborg Park third place is best as it is placed on the inside for first corner which is a left. And when you have to attack for the lead, you can do it on the clean inside and not the dirty outside. So I am more than happy.”
