Quotes from the top 3 runners

Casper Elgaard claimed the pole position, celebrating the 100th year of his main sponsor. Behind him were the usual suspects of James Thompson and Michel Nykjær. “Well that felt darned good, “ a jubilant Elgaard smiled.

“We have been fighting for the last year, since we created the team. I haven’t been racing in two of the last four rounds. I am happy that we succeeded. Every time we have been out on track, we have been improving, working our way to the top.”

“And especially after I had to sit out the last race due to lack of sponsorship. We knew that it would be hard, but it certainly feels too good to be true!”

James Thompson was philosophical about the whole deal; second spot despite the extra ballast in the car seems to give him confidence.

“Casper is 100kg lighter than me, “Thompson replied. “Second spot is still however proof of our success. I expected to be down in 6, 7 or even 8th spot. I am by far the heaviest in the field, now I will just relax, think about tomorrow and have a cold beer!”

Michel Nykjær seemed less bouncy, wondering where everything went wrong. Third place, but still not quite content.

“It was not the perfect lap, “Nykjær explained. “I drove the fastest lap I could, but Casper is very light in comparison. Thompson is incredibly fast, they did very well.”

“James has a very heavy car, with the 100kg ballast. When I think about it, I am quite content with my third place. Remember that the first eight from heat 1, will have their grid places turned around. Pole in heat 2 could be very exciting, and make up for exciting racing. The car worked well, I am reasonably content. But despite that: not quite happy!”
