Jan Magnussen takes pole position
After a very hectic qualification Saturday afternoon, at round six of the Danish Touring Car Championship at Ring Djursland, Ree Sport driver Jan Magnussen took pole. The waves of attack bounced from driver to driver the pole, Martin Jensen, Henrik Lundgaard, Michel Nykjær and Jan Magnussen fought to take the honours.
But in the end, Magnussen drove a blistering lap at the curvy track. The Ree Sport BMW ´s has really bounced back from a dismal spring, having one problem after another with the new green fuel E85. Magnussen and Jensen managed to drive exact the same laptime, of 51,856 but before any internal conversation could start, Lundgaard split the two BMW´s.
Everything was settled when Magnussen improved his laptime to the poletime of 51,806. Lundgaard took second after Magnussen, just 0,045 of a second after the BMW driver. Jensen was even closer, touching Lundgaard with 0,005 of a second after the blue Lacetti.
Laptimes all the way down the qualification timesheet was extremely close, and the Independents Cup was led by per Poulsen in his white Honda Accord in fifth spot. Hans Hartmann was absent, due to an engine change, forcing Poulsen to defend the Honda honours.
Martin Marrill was the fastest driver in the Invitation Only class in tenth, in front of John Hansen and Jens Ole Mathiesen.
