The 2010 Touring Car Year in pictures
A few days remain of the year 2010 and TouringCarTimes has gathered pictures from the past touring car year, featuring pictures from WTCC, DTM, BTCC, STCC and more.
DTM: Traditional season kick off for the spectators in Wiesbaden.
BTCC: Giovanardi dominated the season opener for Triple Eight, but with no Vauxhall support, the team had a relatively quiet season with developing drivers.
WTCC: Tarquini showed early on that the SEAT’s still had it despite the retirement of the Spanish manufacturer as an official works team.
BTCC: An official return for Honda, and Matt Neal to his home team saw the strongest season for Team Dynamics since 2006.
WTCC: Andy Priaulx scores his first win of the season in Morocco, the first of six victories.
STCC: Former F1-driver Jan Magnussen started the season with a BMW but later switched to a Chevrolet, a switch that proved to be successful.
BTCC: A glimpse in to the future, as the first full NGTC car ran at Brands Hatch.
DTM: Former F1-driver David Coulthard returned to the racing tracks with Mercedes in the DTM, here seemingly driving the doors of his C-Class.
BTCC: The independents’ championship winning Ford Focus of Tom Chilton – easily the most controversial car of the year.
DTM: Mattias Ekström was the final hope for Audi in the title race, scoring two victories in the beginning of the season, but not able to match the pace of the leading Mercedes-trio in the end.
STCC: Thed Björk got in to trouble early in the STCC season as Mattias Andersson crashed in to him in the first race of the year at Jyllandsringen in Denmark.
BTCC: The NGTC engine got a trial year with Andrew Jordan and Dave Pinkney, with Jordan taking his first two career wins.
DTM: Paul Di Resta enjoys one of many victories during the DTM 2010 season.
BTCC: A couple of newcomers in 2010 and a welcome return for VW thanks to AmD Milltek Racing.
WTCC: Andy Priaulx and Colin Turkington chasing each other with similar damage to their BMW 320si E90’s.
BTCC: Armed with the WTCC winning Cruze, Plato was an unstoppable force this year despite Honda and Arena turning the heat up.
STCC: Richard Göransson on the way to a new title on a soaking wet Knutstorp.
BTCC: Tom Boardman came back to the BTCC with the only SEAT, here getting in to close action with James Nash.
STCC: The Scandinavian Touring Car Cup field tackles the first corner of the popular city race in Gothenburg.
DTM: The championship continues to draw huge crowds, here at EuroSpeedway Lausitz.
STCC: Turning 50 does not stop STCC-veteran Jan “Flash” Nilsson from winning, here at Karlskoga.
DTM: Ralf Schumarcher made a short appearance in the top of DTM, claiming pole at Norisring, only to be penalized for jumping the start.
STCC: SEAT-youngster Dick Sahlén celebrates his first ever STCC victory.
V8SC: A retro livery was the most attention HRT earned in a very troubled season for the former leading Holden squad.
STCC: Jan Magnussen makes his first appearance in the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup with the Chevrolet Lacetti, impressing the field by qualifying second and closely matching the pace of the Volvo’s on their home arena in Gothenburg.
STCC: Precision work by Robert Dahlgren during the Scandinavian races in the second largest city of Sweden: Gothenburg.
DTM: Bruno Spengler enjoys one of his two victories during the 2010 season.
WTCC: Drivers cooling off after the races in Portugal.

V8SC: A change to Holden’s didn’t seem to slow Triple Eight down at all, but Jamie Whincup was unable to keep his title against the highly consistent Courtney.
DTM: The return of BMW to DTM. Will their new M3 be as successful as the old one in the picture?
STCC: The old S2000 specification Mercedes C-Class made a short and unsuccessful re-appearance in the Swedish Touring Car Championship.
WTCC: Independent driver Colin Turkington scored his first ever WTCC victory in Japan after his BMW colleagues were excluded weeks after the race.
DTM: Alexandre Prémat’s huge crash at Adria in Italy which ultimately saw the Frenchman being sidelined by Audi for the final race of the season.
WTCC: The title hopes for Andy Priaulx and BMW ended in Japan, not only with this gravel visit, but also later with the controversial exclusion from both races in Japan due to un-homologated gearboxes.
STCC: Richard Göransson became historical after scoring his fourth STCC title.
DTM: The three Mercedes musketeers Gary Paffett, Paul Di Resta and Bruno Spengler, going for the title race without Audi.
WTCC: The field of WTCC 2010 heading in to the first corner of Macau for the final time this year.
V8SC: Mark Winterbottom had a strong run in the Ford Performance Racing Falcon until points disappeared at the endurance rounds.
WTCC: The streets of Macau provided the usual carnage, here with O’Young and Barth clashing.
DTM: The German championship returned to China, a controversial return in many aspects.
WTCC: A difficult end to a difficult season for Andy Priaulx, here limping home on three wheels in Macau.
BTCC: Number one indeed, Jason Plato celebrating his second BTCC title.
DTM: Paul Di Resta heads towards his 2010 title on the streets of Shanghai.
WTCC: Norbert Michelisz and Zengő-Dension Team celebrated their first victory as well as the Rookie Challenge title at Macau.
V8SC: A surprise title for James Courtney in the turmoil of DJR as the team’s management divided mid-season.
WTCC: Yvan Muller became the first driver ever to clinch the touring car world title for two different manufacturers, Chevrolet and SEAT, here beside fellow Frenchman Sebastien Loeb at the FIA gala.
