Two Slovaks and a Czech added to ETCC Slovakia line-up
Three local drivers have been added to the entry list for the second round of the FIA European Touring Car Cup next week in the Slovak Republic, with points leader Fernando Monje gaining both a team-mate and a rival with Czech driver Michal Matejovský.
Homola Motorsport have confirmed their entry in the ETCC with 17-year-old Mat’o Homola. Homola was testing at the Slovakiaring on Monday, a circuit which will host its first round of either the FIA European Touring Car Cup and World Touring Car Championship on April 29th.
Homola will be the second youngest driver at the race, with Hungarian Ferenc Ficza Jnr. the youngest competitor with the XFX Unicorse Team at the age of 15.
Fellow Slovakian Patrick Nemec has also been confirmed at SBM Motorsport in the single-make trophy driving a SEAT León Supercopa.
SUNRED Engineering have also confirmed they’ll be running a car for Michal Matejovský, driving a second SEAT León TDI, the car which dominated the opening round of the Cup at Monza in March in the hands of Fernando Monje.
26-year-old Matejovský is a former European Touring Car Cup competitor back in 2007 with O2 Motorsport CSMS, and also competed in his home round at Brno in the 2008 WTCC with SUNRED. Matejovský also drove in the SEAT León Eurocup for the Spanish team for three years with a best championship position of ninth in 2009.
Homola Motorsport have released a video of their test at the Slovakiaring ahead of next weekend’s race.
