TTA confirms breakaway series for 2012

The split between the TTA teams and the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship is a fact. STCC announced earlier today that they stopped the talks with TTA and that they are going to introduce the British NGTC regulations gradually until 2014. TTA confirmed not long after that they are going to form their own series next year.

“We are continuing with our plans, as we have done since february, this changes nothing,” said TTA representative Jan “Flash” Nilsson to TouringCarTimes.

STCC were in discussions with TTA of selling their championship to TTA up until recently, an offer STCC retracted today.

“They approached us about selling STCC, but I must say that we were more surprised when they approached us with the offer than when they decided to withdraw it,” said “Flash”.

A new series is going to be formed for next season where the TTA teams, Polestar Racing, Flash Engineering, WestCoast Racing and Brovallen Design, are going to run a Solution-F based silhouette concept.

“The plans are going on and we are going to run our series next year. We are negotiating with more teams, tracks, media and partners. We are going to reveal more information shortly,” said “Flash”.

The introduction of the NGTC regulations is a part of the split between STCC and TTA.

“I don’t think those regulations are ever going to be introduced. At first they were going to introduce them for 2012, then it was 2013 and now its 2014. They are pushing it forward all the time because the regulations are expensive and not thought through,” said “Flash”.

The details of the new TTA championship, set for introduction next season, has not been revealed yet.

“We are going to reveal more information shortly,” said “Flash”.
