Tough weekend for WestCoast Racing in Gothenburg

BMW Dealer Team WestCoast Racing had a tough TTA weekend in Gothenburg where Andreas Ebbesson became top driver with seventh position in the race.
“We had a strong run in the race, but I was caught behind Linus Ohlsson for too long. As I got past him, I had no problem in matching the pace of the guys in front, but it was too late,” said Ebbesson.

Richard Göransson is top WestCoast Racing driver in the championship, dropping from third to sixth position, but came away from Gothenburg with zero points after an unlucky start and end to the weekend.
“I hit the wall in qualifying, the damage wasn’t too bad but enough for us to be unable to continue. The race is just to forget, I didn’t have a chance to see the tyres and avoid them,” said Göransson.

Göransson had climbed a couple of positions in the race from 10th on the grid when Jan Brunstedt had crashed and collected a tyre barrier on to the track. Göransson was right behind Stefan Söderberg when arriving to the scene of the crash and struck the tyres, resulting in suspension damage.

The story was similar to the remaining BMW drivers Martin Öhlin and Fredrik Larsson, with Öhlin retiring at the end of the race due to damage sustained in an incident with championship leader Fredrik Ekblom. Larsson hit the wall in the early part of the race.
“I had a lot of problem with oversteer. I had to drive with big margins in the chicanes and if I hadn’t done that, it could have ended a lot worse. While we perhaps were unable to win today, we had a car for fourth position and those are dear points to lose. We can’t afford to zero any more races, it is time for revenge in Falkenberg,” said Larsson.

TTA continues at Falkenberg in three weeks.
