All-new Tierp Arena hosts penultimate TTA round of 2012

This weekend marks the debut of Tierp Arena as racing circuit. The TTA – Racing Elite League is first out with the penultimate race of the season.
“It is going to be interesting taking on Tierp Arena, it seems like an exciting and challenging track. We are going to continue as before on full attack. I have been in this for so long that I know that nothing is won until the final race,” said Ekblom.

Ekblom has a comfortable margin to second placed Linus Ohlsson and third placed team mate Thed Björk, 38 and 39 points behind respectively. And Björk is looking to make it a Volvo 1-2 at Tierp Arena.
“I have two weekends to get past and it starts at Tierp Arena. The goal for the weekend is to take another 1-2 with Fredrik and climb to second in the championship. Then it is also going to be interesting with a completely new track, that is one of the best things as racing driver,” said Björk.

But second placed Ohlsson has got his sights set on both Volvo drivers.
“I need to gain at least nine points on Ekblom to keep the championship hopes open for the finale and keep Björk behind. That is my goal. I am a fast learner and I hope that the new Tierp Arena is going to suit me better than the others,” said Ohlsson.

Fredrik Larsson is a bit further behind in fourth but is hoping to keep the momentum up from his superior victory at Anderstorp two weeks ago.
“My goal ahead of the season was top three in the championship and that is still the goal. I am on the hunt for Linus and Thed, they are both quick, but I have been stronger than Linus in the last races and Thed is not impossible to beat,” said Larsson.

The new Tierp Arena circuit measures 2080 meters and uses part of the existing drag racing straight. Local driver Alx Danielsson was one of the first drivers to get a taste of the track yesterday during a press event at Tierp Arena.
“I like the track. It is tight, fast and slippery. The championship is really competitive, but I would of course like to bring home my first victory at Tierp Arena, located not far from where I live,” said Danielsson.
