Eddie Cheever leads Roma Mercedes 1-2 at Monza

Eddie Cheever III took pole position in his debut weekend in the EUROV8 SERIES. The Italian/American driver was four tenths of a second quicker than team-mate Nicola Baldan, making it a Roma Racing Team Mercedes 1-2 for tomorrow’s race, getting the most out of the powerful German V8.

Francesco Sini, who had looked strong in free practice by leading both sessions, took third in his Solaris Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro.

The Italian will share the second row with Audi driver Tomas Kostka, who was a mere eight hundredths quicker than Max Mugelli’s BMW M3 E92. Mimmo Schiattarella managed sixth in the Solaris Motorsport Chevrolet Lumina.

Despite only being confirmed at the last minute for this weekend, late entry Giuseppe Cipriani only missed sixth by less than two hundredths, and will start from seventh in his Hartmann Racing Mercedes C63 AMG. BMW Team Dinamic duo Mauro Copetti and Niccolò Mercatali will start from eight and ninth respectively, with Leonardo Baccarelli rounding out the top ten in the powerful Chrysler C300 run by Team MRT.

The first round of the EUROV8 SERIES will start tomorrow at 10.00 CET and will last 25 minutes plus one lap.
