Vallelunga hosts second round of the EUROV8 SERIES

The EUROV8 Series goes to Vallelunga, Italy, for the second event of the year. The track located near Rome will host an interesting race, with the Balance of Performance rules coming into play from now on.

With weights and air restrictors unchanged, the BMWs are likely to show a good pace round Vallelunga, as last year Team BMW Dinamic’s Giovanni Berton had a strong weekend, so much that he was able to take the runner-up spot of the championship away from the Mercedes duo, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Thomas Biagi.

This season, however, Max Mugelli has a good chance of a strong performance, with fellow Team BMW Dinamic drivers Niccolò Mercatali and Maurizio Copetti expected to improve on the performances shown at the season opener in Monza, a track which doesn’t suit the Bavarian cars.

Despite a huge penalty from the Balance of Performance system, Audi Sport Italia will field three cars, with Tomas Kostka and Davide Stancheris joined by veteran Ermanno Dionisio at the wheel of the championship-winning RS 5.

Solaris Motorsport and Roma Racing Team will both switch to a single-car effort for Vallelunga, as Domenico Schiattarella and championship leader Eddie Cheever will not be on the grid.

Series rookie Nicola Baldan will take over the race-winning Mercedes C63 AMG Coupè, the dominant car at Monza. Francesco Sini will be at the wheel of his Chevrolet Camaro, trying to grab his first win of the year.

Former F1 driver Giovanni Lavaggi will try to make the most out of the unlucky Lexus ISF, while CAAL Racing will field two cars for Diego Romanini and Leonardo Baccarelli.

With the championship leader and the second-placed driver, Cheever and Schiattarella respectively, the whole field will want to get the most out of the chance as Francesco Sini, third in the championship, will try to close the 20-points gap from Cheever.

Qualifying starts at 17.10 CET.
