Giovanardi thrilled ahead of Porsche test

Fabrizio Giovanardi is going to take part in the official Superstars test session at Mugello on Wednesday. TouringCarTimes met up with the multiple touring car champion to get the temperature on his feelings ahead of his debut in the series with the N-Technology prepared Porsche Panamera.

“The car definitely has a lot of potential. We had a few tests, but we were on our own, just developing the car and trying to understand how it should be set up to perform at its best. The Mugello test will be a great chance to see where we are compared to the other competitors,” said Giovanardi to TouringCarTimes.

The Italian driver prefers not to comment yet on his expectations for the Mugello weekend, but it is clear that he has a lot of enthusiasm and confidence for the car and the team.

“As I said before, I believe the car has a huge potential. Of course, it’s a very new car and we are never going to be able to challenge our opponents directly. After the Mugello test we will at least have an idea of where we are,” said Giovanardi.

Although Giovanardi’s expectations are modest, the end goal with the project is still the same.

“Nevertheless, the goal is still to win. This is a sport, and you never race for second. There are a lot of great drivers and teams in this championship, so it will definitely be a pleasure and a honor to compete with them,” said Giovanardi.

Giovanardi is glad to be back at N-Technology, a team that he has been very successful driving Alfa Romeos for.

“Being back with these guys made me feel at home immediately. Developing a completely new car from scratch is never easy, but knowing each other we have the huge advantage of knowing the way we work and how we want things to be done. That helps a lot, of course,” said Giovanardi.
