Superstars head to Valencia for round two
The Superstars Series gets back on track after a four week break. The first event to be held outside from Italy will be hosted by the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia.
After a stunning couple of races in Monza, championship leader Michela Cerruti will face the challenge of a twisty track, in which the BMWs are expected to perform better than Mercedes. Cerruti’s Fellow Romeo Ferraris driver Max Pigoli lies second in the championship, after scoring no points in Race 2 in Monza.
The pair will face stiff competition from the BMWs drivers, who will be aiming to make progress in the championship standings after an expectedly tough weekend in Monza. Series rookie Alberto Cerqui is currently third, but 2010 champion Thomas Biagi is only 3 points shy of his team-mate and will be out to reduce the gap to the lead.
Two-times WTCC independents’ champion Sergio Hernàndez is expected to be a front runner in his home race after a tough weekend at Monza. The Spaniard will be driving a Campos Racing BMW M3 E92 and is very motivated to deliver a good result in front of his home crowd.
The Maserati has already proved to be a strong challenger at Monza, and will be in the hands of Andrea Chiesa and Andrea Bertolini at Valencia, both determined to give the new Quattroporte its maiden win.
The all-new Lexus IS F will make its official debut in Valencia with Diego Romanini, who has a good experience in the Superstars Series, having competed last year in a Mercedes C63 AMG.
The weekend will start on Friday with the first test session at 14:00 CET.
