Pigoli makes it a Mercedes double
Max Pigoli won the second race of the day in Misano. The Romeo Ferraris driver led the field for the whole race on a wet track, finishing ahead of Thomas Biagi, who overtook Christian Montanari for second at the very last corner.
The race started behind the safety car because of the wet track. As soon as the green flag was waved, Max Pigoli took the lead and kept it until the chequered flag.
Behind him was Christian Montanari, but the RGA Sportmanship BMW driver was too hard on his tyres; As the race came to an end, ROAL Motorsport’s Biagi was chasing him and eventually overtook him with a breath-taking last corner pass on the outside.
Riccardo Bossi in the Audi Sport Italia RS4 whom had started from row nine, made his way through the field to fourth, fully exploiting the four-wheel driven RS4. His team-mate Ermanno Dionisio was about to deliver a great result as well, but stopped on the very last lap.
Movisport’s Ivan Tramontozzi took a good fifth ahead of fellow BMW driver Stefano Gabellini in the ROAL car.
Luigi Ferrara couldn’t quite match his impressive race one pace and ended up seventh ahead of Alex De Giacomi. Francesco Sini and Roberto Benedetti’s Cadillac rounding out the top ten.
Pigoli now leads the Italian Superstars Series with 57 points. Biagi and Ferrara are tied up in second place, 18 points shy of the Mercedes driver.
Cerruti collected a double zero this weekend and drops down to fourth, ahead of Alberto Cerqui, who spun after a contact in the second race.
