Maserati and BMW share front row as Ferrara struggles
Andrea Bertolini took a dominant pole in Vallelunga ahead of Team BMW Italia driver Alberto Cerqui, whose best laptime was almost half a second slower than the pole. Bertolini’s team-mate, Alessandro Pier Guidi, will start from third ahead of Thomas Biagi.
Johnny Herbert emerged as the best Mercedes driver, claiming fifth spot on the grid, ahead of Stefano Gabellini and multiple Superstars champion Gianni Morbidelli.
Michela Cerruti and Massimo Pigoli, who is still in the fight for the Italian title, will start ahead of Francesco Sini, who rounds out the top ten in the Roma Racing Team Mercedes AMG C63.
Luigi Ferrara, who has an 11 points advantage over Alberto Cerqui, could only manage a P12 after having to replace his engine.
The first race will start tomorrow at 11:30 (CET).
