New team Solaris Motorsport to run Chevrolets in 2012

Newly founded Italian-Swiss team Solaris Motorsport is planning to run three Chevrolet Lumina CR8s in the 2012 Superstars championship.
“After years spent in other championships, the idea of joining SUPERSTARS has been exciting for us all. The championship is really high-quality and we can’t wait to be on-track as we are fully-committed,” said Ticino-based Christian Sgarbi, co-owner of Solaris Motorsport.

The team has signed one driver for next year in the form of Francesco Sini, who this year drove a Jaguar for Ferlito Motors and later a Mercedes for Roma Racing Team.
“The cars will be heavily upgraded and revamped, and we hope to field three of them. I will be driving one, a second will be surely raced by a young driver because the Rookie Of The Year trophy is really interesting for us. Solaris have always believed in the development of young drivers like they did with me when I captured three titles in two years,” said Sini.

Sini finished tenth in the championship this year with second in the season opener at Monza as best result.
