Jan “Flash” Nilsson takes a break from racing

Double STCC champion Jan “Flash” Nilsson is not going to take part in this year’s TTA – Racing Elite League. The Swede announced today that he is going to take a break from racing due to his other commitments with Flash Engineering, GT Cup and TTA.
“This is one of my most difficult decisions ever, but unfortunately the conditions are not there for me to have a good shot at focusing on the driving, that is why I am taking a break this year,” said “Flash”.

“Flash” turns 52 this year and has been racing touring cars since the start of STCC in 1996 and raced single seaters in Europe and USA as well as Renault Clio Cup before that. Other than driving, “Flash” owns and maintains Flash Engineering and GT Cup, as well as being part owner and one of the founders of TTA.
“My goal has been to end with driving the coolest and most sporting race car that ever has been built in Sweden, but the time just isn’t enough for me. It just isn’t realistic for me to in the right way commit to all my assignments and at the same time going 100% to race in the strongest field Sweden has ever seen with this year’s TTA,” said “Flash”.

“Flash” was supposed to drive a Saab 9-3 TTA for his own team Flash Engineering in the TTA – Racing Elite League this year. His replacement is going to be revealed tomorrow.
“Flash Engineering is here to win, we have got a strong track record and we attract winners. I am pleased over the driver that we have signed, he is used to winning,” said “Flash”.

While not racing in the main class TTA this year, the Swede is not ruling out a comeback later this year in one of the support classes.
“I won two races in the STCC last year, the hunger and drive is still within me to race. But right now I need to focus on the work around Flash Engineering, GT Cup and TTA,” said “Flash”.
