BMW Dealer Team WCR pleased with season start
BMW Dealer Team WestCoast Racing scored a podium with Richard Göransson in the TTA – Racing Elite League premiere at Karlskoga and team boss Dick Jönsson-Wigroth is pleased.
“It feels incredible that we are up and running and that the first race is run. We got all cars over the finishing line, in one piece and in the points, I am really pleased with that,” said Jönsson-Wigroth.
Göransson started third on the grid but made his way past Fredrik Ekblom for second in the first corner. But it was not long until he was reeled in and passed by the Volvo driver. Göransson was nonetheless pleased with third in the first race of the season.
“An amazing premiere and we have set the foundation for something new that we are continuing to build on. For my part it was mainly a fight between me and the car. It was tough to drive and a tough race, when Ekblom caught me up, I knew what was coming. But a big congrats to Linus (Ohlsson) for the win, he beat us this time, we are going to make sure it doesn’t get a habit,” said Göransson who is going to take part in the Nürburgring 24 hours next weekend for BMW.
Fredrik Larsson was second best BMW driver in fifth, a result the former Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia runner-up was not completely pleased with.
“It was a controlled race for my part with some hassle, but fifth is okay. It would have been nice with a podium, but we just didn’t have that last bit today. Next up is Anderstorp which is a completely different type of circuit,” said Larsson.
WestCoast Racing drivers Andreas Ebbesson and Martin Öhlin finished seventh and tenth respectively, meaning that BMW were alone in bringing all cars in to the points.
