Volvo Polestar Racing in team championship lead

Volvo Polestar Racing claimed the teams’ championship lead after the TTA – Racing Elite League premiere thanks to a second and fourth for Fredrik Ekblom and Thed Björk.
“I am really pleased that I was able to deliver straight away for Volvo Polestar in the first race and we were in the end just one overtaking maneuver from a triple championship lead,” said Ekblom.

Ekblom finished second behind Saab driver Linus Ohlsson. The Volvo driver had the pace on Ohlsson but was not able to get past.
“The team did an amazing job and provided me with a really good car. I had the fastest lap in the race and I had contact with Linus for the victory several times. But Linus drove really well and I didn’t want to take too many risks this early in the championship,” said Ekblom.

Volvo Motorsport Director Derek Crabb is pleased after the weekend with Ekblom in second position in the drivers’ championship, Polestar Racing first among the teams and Volvo in second among the manufacturers.
“The team has done an excellent job. All members have clocked over 100 working hours per week for more than three weeks, so we are more than proud over our team, and in the delivery of a new championship, a new car, new technical regulations and a new race format. TTA has arrived and we are pleased to be here,” said Crabb.

Closest to Polestar Racing in the teams’ championship is Saab squad Team Tidö/PWR Racing, four points behind.
