Liuzzi leads Michelisz in Hungaroring testing

Vitantonio Liuzzi was fastest in the final test session on Friday at the Hungaroring in his CAAL Racing Mercedes AMG C63, just ahead of local hero Norbert Michelisz in the Scuderia Giudici BMW M3 E92.

Liuzzi was fastest of all in the first test session ahead of former champion Thomas Biagi, but the majority of the field were even faster in the second session, with Liuzzi himself improving from a time of 1:54.599 to 1:53.842, and was the only driver under 1:54 all day.

Norbert Michelisz, who took his second career WTCC victory at the Hungaroring earlier this year, found more pace in the second session as well, improving from eighth to second in the order, and was just under three-tenths of a second down on Liuzzi.

Thomas Biagi was third quickest in the Team Dinamic BMW M3 just under half a second back, with Francesco Sini just over a second adrift in the Solaris Motorsport Chevrolet Lumina.

Only 12 cars took part in the second test session, with championship leader Johan Kristoffersson among those also not taking part all day.

The two Swiss Team Maserati Quattroportes only took part in the first test, with Christian Klien setting the third fastest time in the session, which was the sixth fastest time of the day, with team-mate Mauro Cesari sixth quickest in the first test.

There will be two free practice sessions tomorrow at 10:45 and 14:40 CET before qualifying at 17:40 CET.
