New Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé ready for Superstars debut

Top Run Engineering for Roma Racing completed a shakedown with a brand new Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé, set for debut in the next race of the Superstars International Series.
“We would have loved to make it debut earlier but unfortunately some of the car’s components, which were specifically built for the very first time, took more time than expected to be developed,” said driver and team owner Nico Caldarola.

The shakedown was completed at the new San Martino del Lago circuit in Italy.
“It’s been really exciting to take it on-track. In addition to the fact that is spectacular to watch, our new C63 Coupé proved fast straight out of the box despite we still haven’t reached the 100% mark in terms of development. The car has the same engine of the saloon, a 543-horsepower, 6.3-liter Mercedes AMG V8, but the real difference is in its chassis which is stiffer and has a lower centre of gravity,” said Caldarola.

There are currently six Mercedes C63 AMG entered in the championship this year, by CAAL Racing, Romeo Ferraris and Roma Racing, but all of them being saloon models.
“I was particularly impressed by its centre of gravity, which is totally different from the sedan model I raced so far. It has an extremely high potential and now it’s up to us to take full advantage of it in order to hit the top soon. Our goal is to race with this car in the next round of Superstars and we look forward to start from an higher point in terms of performance compared to the 4-door version,” said Caldarola.

Caldarola is currently placed 15th in the International Superstars Series and 11th in the Italian championship.
