Di Sabatino impressed with Lumina after first test
The Superstars Series started its pre-season with the first official testing session of 2013 held at Adria. Many new faces got a taste of the powerful V8s, including former World Touring Car Championship racer Pasquale di Sabatino.
The Italian was impressed with the now ageing but still competitive Chevrolet Lumina CR8, setting a competitive laptime and getting familiar with the Chevrolet Solaris Motorsport team.
Giovanni Berton confirmed his comittment to a full 2013 season with Team BMW Dinamic, as he was joined by Matteo Davenia, a strong single-seater competitor who had the first taste of the German car. Christian Mancinelli and Christian Pigionanti were also at the wheel of a BMW M3 from team RGA.
Ferlito Motors fielded one of their Jaguars driven by Gian Maria Gabbiani, who took part in the championship last year. The Italian’s experience has been used to develop the setup of the British car.
A Chrysler 300C was also on track, with Alessandro Battaglin behind the wheel, while the newcoming PRS/Nos Racing team fielded the Audi RS4s, driven by Alessandro Kouzkin, Silvano Bolzoni and Gianluca De Matteo.
Petri Corse’s Porsche Panameras were not present at the test, as the Italian team is still preparing the cars to put them up to date after nearly two years of absence from the championship. TouringCarTimes understands the German cars should be ready in about ten days, when an announcement for the drivers is expected to be made.
