Tomas Kostka joins Audi Sport Italia for 2014 season

Czech driver Tomas Kostka has been confirmed as the first signing for Audi Sport Italia for the 2014 EUROV8 SERIES season. Kostka will drive the team’s four-wheel drive Audi RS 5 which took Gianni Morbidelli to the drivers’ title last year.

29-year-old Kostka has had a career which has mixed circuit racing with rallying, having competed in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge at his home event for five consecutive seasons, and in two rounds of the 2013 FIA World Rally Championship, first in an S2000 Skoda Fabia and then later a Citroën DS3 WRC.

Kostka also competed in the full 2009 DTM season, driving a two-year old Kolles Futurecom Audi A4, with a pair of 11th places as his best finish.

“We are extremely happy to have reached an agreement with an high-calibre driver like Kostka,” said Audi Sport Italia Team Manager Roberta Gremignani.

“It’s interesting to have an experienced rally driver in the team because both Emilio Radaelli and I have some good rallying memories. Then the fact that he’s Czech will bring many fans on-track at Brno. In addition to him, we are defining the rest of our line-up with some new names we will be announcing soon.”
