Nicola Baldan to defend EUROV8 series lead at Brno

The EUROV8 Series is back on track this weekend , for the first time outside of Italy. The championship will visit Brno, where local hero Tomas Kostka will lead the charge of the three Audi RS 5s, with team-mate Ermanno Dionisio joined by series rookie Emanuele Zonzini, with Davide Stancheris not returning to the track.

Zonzini made a sensational debut alongside touring car legend and Le Mans star Dindo Capella in the Italian GT race held at Misano Adriatico, where the two took victory, and will try to repeat himself on the Czech track.

Nicola Baldan enters the event as the series leader in his Mercedes AMG C63 Coupé. The Italian, who recently scored his first win in the championship, will be partnered by team owner Nico Caldarola, who will go back to driving duties, much like he did at Mugello.

BMW will as usual be represented by Team Dinamic, who will field three M3s for Niccolò Mercatali, Max Mugelli and Maurizio Copetti. It was the latter who had an accident with Francesco Sini at Mugello during Race 2, leaving the former series leader’s Chevrolet Camaro severely damaged. Solaris Motorsport worked hard to make the car ready for racing again and will be on track to try and get back in the championship lead.

Baldan has a 12 point advantage over Tomas Kostka, with Niccolò Mercatali exploiting his consistency to be just a further two points adrift. Francesco Sini lies fourth in the championship with 25 points from the leader, tied on points with Audi driver Stancheris who will not be on track at Brno.
